BAM VOWS: 'WE WILL RECOVER
'TAKE CHARGE OF FUTURE' AFTER PAYING FOR MI$TAKES OF PAST
WASHINGTON - Telling Americans battered by the economic disaster that a "day of reckoning" is at hand, President Obama last night called on the country to pull together and declared, "We will recover."
"While our economy may be weakened and our confidence shaken, though we are living through difficult and uncertain times, tonight, I want every American to know this: We will rebuild, we will recover, and the United States of America will emerge stronger than before," Obama told a joint session of Congress.
The president's resolute and confident approach differed from his recent gloom-and-doom remarks and hews to the unsolicited advice that Bill Clinton offered in TV interviews last week, when he said Obama should sound "hopeful."
President Obama did just that - offering America some of the hope that was his campaign mantra.
